Pollination
What are the group's thoughts on including insect pollinators into a CELSS,
including their use as a food source directly as protein or indirectly (eg,
honey). What checks need to be utilized to balance insect population in a CELSS,
and keep them from becoming pests in either the human habitat or grow area?
What alternatives are there to using insects to pollinate? Airflow designs +
planting patterns, manual pollination, hummingbirds?
Has anyone gone beyond just buying seedstock to sustainably producing their own?
I would posit that breeding CELSS specific lines of key heirloom crops is an
essential ingredient in wider CELSS development, and may be a great business
opportunity for those of you that have a head start. Thoughts?
